Our afterschool program includes children enrolled in 1st through 5th grade. We provide a safe, fun, and educational experience for area school children during the summer vacation and at various times during public school holidays throughout the academic year.
There are opportunities to participate in
arts and crafts, board games and puzzles, dramatic play, computer fun, movies,
large group and small group games, music and movement, field trips, guest
speakers, and community involvement programs. Children enjoy manipulatives and blocks and educational games that test their problem solving and critical thinking skills. We encourage children to work on home work and school related projects and will provide help if necessary.
Our summer program promises to provide a full day of activities revolving around a theme. Swimming, bowling, skating, sports, picnics, arts and crafts, reading and much more fill up each day. We provide transportation to and from all activities away from the center. These field trips are changed yearly and reflect the interests of the children as well as the availability of activities in the community.
Summer is a time of fun, but we also like to encourage children to engage in learning activities that encourage intellectual development. We want our children to experience the best mix of fun and learning while away from the traditional classroom.
Meals away from the center may be provided but in some of the field trips, children will be asked to supply their own water and sack lunch.
One activity fee will cover all field trip admission fees and will be collected at the beginning of the summer program.
Some summer days that are spent at the center will be filled with fun activities and learning pursuits. Children are encouraged to take full advantage of the opportunities provided. Guest speakers and guests may be incorporated into the program and provide additional activities such as sports, fitness, arts, and more.
Children who have completed first grade up through 4th grade are eligible to participate in this program.
Children enrolled in our Summer Program receive Breakfast, Lunch and an afternoon snack. All food and menu choices comply with the CACFP (Child and Adult Food Program). You may visit our Menu page for more information about the types of foods that are served.
To participate in this Food Program, children will need to be in attendance during the hours that meals and snacks are served. There are many rules and regulations that govern this government program and Storyland depends on the program to provide a superior food service for your child. One very important regulation that we must follow is the timing of meals. Children must be present at the facility at the time meals are served. Unfortunately, we are unable to serve a meal to your child if he is late to school. Due take this into consideration when planning your daily schedule.
Our program fills up fast and there is limited space available. If you have a child in First through 5th grade and want more information about the program, please fill out the form below, submit it and we will get back to you shortly.
